I am a journalism-enthusiast and startup founder with a passion for bringing creativity and design thinking to unexpected places. I am currently Innovation Manager for McClatchy, where I help train McClatchy employees and partners across the country — from the Sacramento Bee to the Raleigh News & Observer — in design thinking. I’m lucky to work with incredible teams from a mix of editorial, product, advertising and revenue to develop new ideas and bring user-centered prototypes to life. I believe the future of media lies in empathizing with audiences and building products that treat diverse communities as equal partners.
Before coming to McClatchy, I founded Kinethics, an interactive compliance-training company focused on anti-corruption law. Running a startup while still in college gave me the entrepreneurial bug, and most importantly, showed me how to learn quickly and embrace failure. I developed a love for journalism as a freelance writer and intern at CNN and Reese News Lab.
